YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!

I GOT THE JOB!! I start working at Old Vineyard Youth Services on October 15th. How perfect. I really feel like a professional and an adult now, because with the amazing job comes a fattie salary increase. I've always wanted to be in a hospital setting, and now I shall get that on a small scale, working with a supervisor I've already worked with & the population that I want to be working with. All my previous jobs will only help me in this setting, as they're all on the continum of services of mental health. Sweet.

I will be a therapist on the actute unit of the inpatient program working with children & adolescent girls (possiblity to help out with the boys if needed). I will do group therapy, family therapy, limited individual thearpy & case management (helping with discharge planning, putting services in place, etc). I'm sooo excited!

Also today, I got a confirmation email from the NC LPC board confirming my registration and payment for my licensure exam (the NCE), so I can now officially register to take it. I have to check the scheudle again, but I hope to do it the first part of Novemeber. I think can re-study enough by then and do well on it. I was ready in February, just never wanted to shell out the dollars for it.. so I think all I need to do is refresh. Then, if I pass, I will be able to say I'm a "board elligible" counselor, and have the letters "NCC" (Nationally certified counselor) after my name!! Then, once I fulfil the hour requirement, it will go to the board & when they approve it all, I will have my license!! SWEETNESS!! Maybe another year for it all to be done.

In other news, Colleen has been offered & accepted a job in Greensboro & will be moving back to NC soon. She's been here since last week looking for apts and such, and heads back to Tupper Lake on Monday. So, she & I and others are going to do some serious celebrating tomorrow night! There will also be some other exciting news tomorrow.. but I will wait until I have pictures to post to share that news.

Oh, and a new puppy will be coming to mom & dad next week too! Mom & I drove to Pinnacle (north, near Pilot Mountain) and picked out one last week. They're in ATL this weekend visiting my sister & her boyfriend and going to a Braves/Mets game, and she has to babysit overnight Tuesday night, so we're not picking her up until Wednesday evening. SHe has really odd coloring that's hard to explain, so I'll just post her pic when we get her home. The Heller dog count is back up to what it was before all the doggie loss. It's a little weird.

one more thing.. I have started babysitting for a new family, with an almost 3 year old little boy who is freakin ADORABLE!! Last time I sat, the next am he woke up asking where I was and if I was coming to play that day. His mom emailed me that and it made my day. Then tonight I got there & his parents were telling me all he could talk about today was "Miss Cole is coming today!!" I love kids!! They make me so happy.

Ok, sleep time. Exciting day tomorrow!

Wow, lots of great news all at once! I know you'll be happy to have Colleen around, and it TOTALLY ROCKS that you got this new job. It sounds like a great opportunity, with much less crapola than previous jobs. =)

Jack is taking his next exam on November 4 (election day), so you guys will both have your studying and stress around the same time. I bet you'll both pass, though. Good luck!!

Congrats on the new job! Having the letters NCC after your name is fun too...but having LPC after will be much more fun...how many hours do you need in NC...I know in Pa we need 2 years, not exactly sure on the number of hours, we just need 2 years of direct supervisory experience by someone who has thier license as well...congrats again on the new job...and I have a great cheap website where you can get all your PD hours you need to have for NBCC.
