Here ya go
Well, it appears that I haven't done a real update in a few weeks!
First of all, when I went into work a few Sundays ago, imagine my surprise when I see the 2 clients that had been hospitalized sitting in the living area of the cottage. Not one, but both of them were back, unexpectedly!!! The one has been in the hospital for at least a month, maybe more, and was all of a sudden let go. Something to do with insurance and the hospital said she didn't really need to be there, blah blah blah. BUT, she's still set up to go to a level 4 placement, I guess just not the hospital here!?? We're basically just holding her until she can get into a level 4 place. The other one, we're not really sure why she came back. But, she only lasted a couple days before she wiled out and was sent back. That same Sunday I first saw them both back, she was taken back to the hospital and has not been returned as of yet. Thank GOD! However, the other one has been causing us all sorts of trouble. She's just wild- hyper and out of control. SHe's been running all over campus, going out her windows when we won't take her out, she's run off campus once or twice. IT's NUTS. But she's not aggressive or violent, and usually if you give her one on one attention, she'll settle down. But it makes doing stuff with the other 2 damn near impossible.
My trip to Nashville & Clarksville was tons of fun. I spent 2 nights with Melissa, 1 with Trish in Clarksville, and 1 with Robin & Mike. Melissa and I went out the night I got there, to one of her favorite bars. We had several drinks, only 2 that we actually bought ourselves. ;-) We went to one of her friend's aptartments after that, and she passed out. Wow, what fun for me! So, I got her up and moving and drove us back to her apt. Thursday I putzed around for a few hours while she had a job interview, then we went to the pool. The water was a bit chilly, but it was nice laying out weather. IT was freakin' hot the whole time I was there. I guess it was here too, but still, I wasn't used to it. Friday I went to APSU and paid my graduation fee, but I couldn't get my cap & gown or hood yet. ergh. Met with my advisor and got feedback for my paper, which has to be in by Nov. 20. So, I'm good on that one. I need to get more lit review in it, which should be pretty easy, since I"ve been saving articles constantly. I got to travel a new route there and back, which I like much better than straight shooting it on 40. It took the same time too, which is awesome. I went 52 to I-77 to I-81 to 4o. It was a LOT less mountainous, in fact, I hardly noticed I was going up/down any at all. OH! I got to see Justin & Paul while I was at Robin & Mike's too. fun times. WE went to a corn maze Saturday night, then watched Titan football on Sunday before I left.
I have to tell you an obnoxious story, which made me feel good that nothing ever happened with Justin. So, I knew that they're all republicans. Robin even had a nasty Bush/Cheney sticker on her brand new car. Which made me mad that I hadn't gotten my Kerry/Edwards one by the time I went over there!! I kept passing Bush people on the drive, and wanted to zoom past them with my Kerry sticker to piss them off as much as they pissed me off!! :-P ANYWAY. So, somehoe Justin started talking about MTV and The Real World. About how the show is bogus and it's just pushing MTV's agenda on everyone. ANyway, if you've seen it (it's in Philly this season), there is this guy MJ. Big southern boy, from Nashville. He went to Vanderbilt, as well as the same HS as Justin. And, Justin knows him, has seen him since he's been back, etc. Well, he starts off this part of the conversation talking about what a bad name this MJ guy is giving Nashville people. He's said "I'm just a good ol' southern boy from small town Nashville, TN. I've not been exposed to a lot in the world, I've not really been around gays, it's just not something that happens much where I'm from". SO, Justin's saying that this is making everyone from Nashville look like hicks. Then he starts talking about how MJ is hanging out with the 2 token gay guys on the show. (One of which he doesn't believe is gay, he thinks he's just an actor hired by MTV, because he doesn't fit the "typical" stereotype). How he's going to gay bars and hanging out with all these gay people. Then, he says "That's not right, he shouldn't be doing that kind of stuff". My jaw hit the floor, I'm sure someone had to notice my facial expression change. Both he & Mike were saying this, that it's not right to be hanging out with gay people, hugging gay people, or going to gay bars and such. I was like, And you're worried about what this guy is doing for people from Nashville? When the 3 of you are saying he shouldn't be doing what he's doing, being open to new things and not shunning someone because they're gay? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Ooooohhhh, I so wanted to say "oh well I guess that means I have to leave since I'm gay, right?" just to see what they'd say. OOh, it made my skin crawl. Robin didn't really say anything, but she kind of nodded along with their conversation. And, it's not really surprising, the boys have these "rules" that they're not allowed to hug, touch, and some other bullshit because it's not manly enough or something. Which I always thought was just boys being afraid of showing their sensative side, but I guess not. Ugh. NOw I realize why Robin & I never really talk about anything "important", because we'd most likely NEVER agree.
What else? OH OH OH!! This morning, around 8:30, my cell phone rings. I thought it was my alarm (I use my cell phone for my alarm clock). It took me a minute to realize it was someone calling.. I was dead asleep and not too coherent. IT was someone from Wake Forest Behavioral Health, calling about my resume I'd sent in weeks ago. They have a residential facility and want me to come in for an interview tomorrow. RAH! Who knows if it's any better than TCH, but it can't hurt to go hear/see about it. I bet they pay more too, and might have better shifts too. We'll just have to see. Or, if not the residential part, maybe they can hook me up with something else. =)
Tonight is the 10th annual WS/FCS Band Jamboree!! HOw crazy is that? We were part of the first one!! I've finally gotten in touch with Amanda, and she is going to go with me. And, I think Becca & ALice are going too. Wee!! I really want to go to an ASU football game on Saturday, but no one can go with me. Rats! I'll get there eventually. There is a KKPsi pledge class going thru too, so I want to see some of that. AND, they're in the process of installing a new chapter from ETSU, which is always fun!!
I don't know what else. I'm sure I'll think of more. But, that's good for now. I need to take Smelly Melly out, she's having fits. We've only been up for an hour, and she's been whining since then, freakin' pain in the arse. I need to get Zoe back over here to entertain her.
Adios!

Yay, a new post! Man, you showed a lot of composure during the homophobic/backward-thinking Southern people conversation. I would have been all over their asses. =) Congrats for staying calm, since getting mad at them most likely wouldn't have changed their minds. They need to have a friend or family member who's gay, and then their eyes might be opened. I wouldn't hold my breath until then!
I've noticed that all the people who cut me off on the road either have no political stickers on their cars or big old "W04"s plastered on the back. Coincidence??? I think not. They want it all for themselves, all the time, and everyone else is just in the way. Hmph. Hey, I'm glad you found a nicer route to Nashville... I love the drive up to 81!
