I can't complain
Whoops. I was going to leave comments on other people's blogs about not updating.. and then I realized that I've been as much of a slack ass as anyone! whoopsie.
Life is super busy. I love my job still, even if it is draining & time consuming on certain days. Most of you already have heard me complain about this.. but we have to do "bus duty" which entails going to the bus lot in the mornings, riding the bus to pick up the kids and going to the school, then riding again in the afternoon to take them home and get back to the lot to our cars. Not fun when it's 100* and the buses have no AC!! I've been on the thug bus the last few weeks. It's such a bunch of bad kids that we have 2 staff riding every day. Restraints, fights, pain in the ass kids. Some days there are no incidents though, go figure. It makes for a really long day, 2 of the busses leave at 7am, and the other one at 7:30 and they get back between 4:30 and 5pm. Oy. I've been doing that at least 2 days a week, sometimes 3.
The actual job is good.. I'm with the kids ALL day for the summer program. We have 4 staff for our 11 kids, and at times that's not enough! One of the worst kids is supposedly not coming back for the rest of the summer, and another one has been gone for the last week, so we don't know his deal. It's been a nice calm week for once. We go on all day field trips on Thursdays, and half days on Mondays. And, the kids are doing "project based learnin" for 6 hours a week. The last few weeks they were learning about maps and compasses & following map/compass directions. It was pretty fun, but some of the kids just couldn't get it & got mad.
Other than that, there is not much goin' on.. the drama has settled down a bit. Been spending a lot of time at the pool, up until this week it's been insanely hot. Of course this weekend was cool & cloudy, not good pool weather at all.
Mom has got my "bridesmaid" dress nearly completed. It looks pretty good. I found some pretty ribbons to use for the ties on it, so that added a bit of sass to it. =) I found some cool silver shoes too.. so I'm getting excited about it all. Alice and I leave Thurs 7/20 to drive to State College for the weekend of wedding fun. Tucker & Don wussed out of carpooling with us, but we'll still have fun. Then, I fly to Buffalo the next Thursday to stay with the Michels and go to my cousin's wedding in Rochester. RAH! I'm very excited about that. I haven't seen the Michel's in several years. I can't wait to see how grown up Matt & Bryan are. I need to check in with my sister in Clt and make sure she's set to take and pick me up from the airport!
We randomly have Aug 14 off, so I'm trying to decide where to go for that long weekend. I was thinking about flying to NY again for ANOTHER wedding.. but now I'm not sure. If I can find a cheap flight I definitely will, but that'll also entail boarding the dogs again, cuz mom & dad will be there too. I also want to go visit Katherine or go to the beach. Too many choices! Colleen starts back to work at Footprints that day, so she can't take a long weekend anywhere with me. BUMMER. ANyone got any suggestions??
ok, that's enough for now.. I need to go take the doggies for a walk. They're feeling neglected.
