I have heat!!
Odd headline, you might think.
It was an odd feeling this am when I got out of my snuggly bed and went into the hallway to chilliness!!
I had my little space heater turned on in my bedroom with the door shut, cuz I was a little chilly during the night (and I use it in the am cuz I'm always so cold after I get outta bed in the mornings) so my room was toasty. Not the rest of the house though!! I checked the thermostat and it said 58* and the Emergency/Aux heat light was on! I haven't changed the settings at all in weeks on my heat, so I was like "OH NO!" I immediately dug out my home warranty stuff (it runs out next week, think I should renew!?) and let them know what was up. They told me I should hear from a repair place within an hour or so. So, I called my coworker to let her know I wouldn't be in court with her and then decided I should call my supervisor too just in case my coworker got back to the office before I was scheduled to be at a home visit.
Anyway, I snuggled back in bed in my warm bedroom and waited for the repair man to call. He ended up calling and coming by 10am, and putzed around for a while (and got mud on my carpet!!) before figuring out what was wrong. Some part separate from the heat pump had kaputted. It looked like an extension cord or something. He told me that it was what heated the air from the heat pump to the vents and there was no problem at all with the heat pump itself. Phew. Altho if there was, the home warranty should have taken care of it. So, he had to go find thta part somewhere and came back and got it installed and my house almost instantly warmer! FUN TIMES of being a homeowner!!
Good timing too, considering it's almost a holiday weekend AND we're supposed to have more SNOW on Saturday. Can you believe it? Twice in a week?!

Hurray for home warranties! We got our water heater fixed when our warranty was about to run out a few years ago, and we were glad to have it be so easy. Of course, we've just replaced our water heater anyway, but it still works... it's just terribly old. =) I'm glad your heat problem was easy to fix and that you're all cozy again!
