Tropical Storm ME!
Ha! There is a tropical storm Nicole out in the North Atlantic, near New England and Canada. How cool is that? Too bad it's not a bigger one so more people could hear about me. tee hee.
I don't remember what my last post said. But, I am mostly un-sick now. Still not 100%. And, get this.. there are no flu shots anywhere around here!! Ahhhh! This is no good at all.
Work is going pretty ok. Nothing too dramatic. Did I tell you that the devil child has been discharged to another facility and will not be coming back here ever again?! yaaaaaaayyy! For her sake, I hope she gets the help she needs.
I found the most fabulous articles for my research paper, which is due in a month. Now I just have to figure out how to get to them. I think Wake has them in their library, so I'm going to try to get Tuck tuck Tucker to go with me one day and help me navigate the library. There is a whole issue of one of my favorite journals to use for research devoted to diabetes and counseling and producing better control! DUDE! They're trying to copy me. Hopefully, I'll get the articles soon and be able to make my paper even more kick ass, with new research to support what I'm proposing and suggesting! I love finding research that fits my view!! =)
I went to the Dixie Classic Fair twice last week. Once with The Children's Home kids, and once with Alice to just walk around. With the kids, I rode 3 or 4 rides and had a blast. I love fast, turn you upside down and your insides out kind of rides. =) Alice and I just were bored so we walked around and people watched. It was fun. We were entertained by the "Guess your weight, age or birthday" people. We didn't see too many of them get it right though. I had a nummy candy apple and a funnel cake (on separate nights), so I was happy!! Alice and I also went to a new Mexican restaurant, called Moe's. It was pretty nummy. It's a lot like Qdoba, if you've ever been there. IN other words, very much like Subway for Mexican. Fun times.
FYI: I talked to Becca today, all the way from London!! She has a little cold, but is otherwise doing well over there. She loves it and is learning her way around quite quickly. She was able to get university housing, thank goodness. She's still looking for a job.. uhm, what else?! She said that everyone in the program is very nice; they were all expecting her and knew who she was when she got there. Cute.
OH! They offered me the job at Wake Forest Behavioral Health, working with level 5 male sex offenders (under 18). I really would have liked to have taken it, but they wanted me to start right away, and I can't leave TCH right this second, without jeopardizing my internship. There is some shit going on with paperwork and making sure it all counts, so I don't want to screw that up. Plus, as crappily as this place is run at times, I'd feel bad leaving right now when they are so short staffed. The Wake place would have given me GREAT experience, not to mention a LPC or 2 to work with for my licensure.. but I'm sure there will be openings at another time. Which reminds me, I need to send a letter to the guy I interviewed with thanking him for the opportunity and letting them know to keep me in mind for future positions.
Ok, gotta get outta here and head home!

Congrats on the job offer, even though you didn't take it. =) Do you really want to work with male sex offenders? I suppose if you're trained and feel comfortable, it's fine, but I would be a bit weirded out by the whole thing!
It's great that you talked to Becca... I'm glad to hear that she's doing so well! I've been trying to figure out if there's any way Jack and I can get there to visit her, since we've wanted to go back to England for a long time and now would be a great chance. We'll see! =) I'm glad you're feeling less sick too... take care of yourself!

Did this thing post already?? It made me re-sign-in. Anyway, forgive any multiples...
I saw news of tropical storm Nicole, too, and ROTFLed! :-) I agree with Erica that it would be odd to work with male sex offenders. Granted, you would kick their ASSES if they crossed any sort of line (unleach tropical storm Nicole Marie!), but...[shudder]. By the way, I finally updated my blog, check it out!
