Finally! My doctor just called & left me a message (yes, on a Sunday) to tell me that my hemaglobin A1c test results (overall average blood sugar control/normalcy) went from 8.5% to 7.6%! Normal/target is 7%. I've been stuck at 8.5% for the last 2 or 3 times, I think. It makes me so happy, because that means that all my 'hard work' of trying to do everything right is finally paying off. It's so frustrating to do guess right with carbs and insulin and test scores only to have it not make any difference. That's been my problem ever since I was diagnosed, and is just how diabetes works. You do what you calculate should work, and it doesn't, for no logical reason.
Yay, finally some positive reinforcement for me! =)
In other news, I am now the owner of my very own push lawn mower! :-) My mom saw an ad in the paper Friday morning, and went and checked it out and bought it right then and there. Rock on. Of course, I still have to pay her for it, so I don't technically own it yet... but I used it this afternoon, along with my newly purchased rake, and mowed my front yard. It looks so pretty. The rake was used to corrale all the magnolia pods (they're kinda like pine cones but they drop from the magnolia trees) so I wouldn't break the mower running over them all. Indigo thought that was the best thing ever, because she loves to chase the pods. So, as I was raking them up, she was chasing them all over the yard. Now she has 2 big piles of them to select her pod to play with from every day. ;-) I should have thought to call Alice so she could have documented in photos or video the fun playin' in the yard with doggies time. All 3 doggies were very good, they stayed in the yard the whole time I was raking. I put them inside while I was using the mower so I wouldn't have to worry about keeping an eye out for them. So, it was a fun outside filled afternoon. It's much easier to mow when it's not 90* and humid.
Now I have to go decide what I want for dinner. My next random "house related" purchase will be a gas grill, so I can cook up some nummy dinners!!

Yay about your mower! That raking would have been funny to see, with Indigus running about, trying to figure out which pod to chase. She's freakin' hilarious. =)
Lowe's has some nice, small gas grills for $30 to $50, or you could splurge and get a big one. We opted for the small, but there are definitely times that we want to grill a bunch of veggies, including corn on the cob, and it would be much easier to have a big one. Have fun grill shopping!
