In good company
I've become a blog slacker, but at least I'm in good company. It seems this summer has been busy for all of us in blogger world.
What has been keeping me busy, you ask? Work, travelling, and hanging out with friends.
2 weekends ago Alice & I drove to State College for Lauren & Steve's wedding, which was fabulous. Pics are on webshots if you haven't noticed yet. The drive wasn't too bad, and we had much fun hanging with the gang up there. I managed to come down with a cold the day before we left, so I ended up calling in sick on Thursday so I could sleep some more before we hit the road. I was stuffy & congested the whole weekend, but still had fun. I'm sure the large amounts of alcohol consumed helped me not feel my cold symptoms!
Came back from that trip for 3 days of crazyness at work, then left W-S at 6am last Thursday to head to Charlotte to fly out to Buffalo! I actually slept the whole flight, totally missed the flight attendants come through with drinks & pretzles (cuz they don't do peanuts anymore, annoying!) Got to Buffalo & found my family. Matt, the boy I used to babysit in Clifton, towers over me. Bryan has grown some too. They're both teenagers now, and moody & funny & such. We had lots of fun. They took me out to lunch, I saw them swim in a swim meet (that their mom coached), we ate real Buffalo wings, went to a neat state park and 'hiked' down to a waterfall with a natural gas flame under it, and saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Lots of fun, I can't believe how big the boys are! Matt had to leave at 5am on Saturday to head to boy scout camp.. which worked out well since I was gone all day Saturday for my cousin's wedding in Rochester. That was crazy too! Nothing special about the ceremony or church.. wasted the 5 hours in between the wedding & reception at my uncle's sister's house which just happened to be down the sreet from the reception. However, no one told me they had a pool, so I had to suffer in the heat and watch other people swim. How rude!! All of mom’s brothers & sisters & their kids were there and we had a grand ol’ time. =) They’re so crazy when they all get together. Then, we headed to the reception, which was at the bride’s house, which is freakin’ HUGE. I forgot to take a pic of the house & land & stables & such. Her family raises & races horses, and her dad owns a few car dealerships. So you can imagine the size of the house & land. The tent for the reception was HUGE, however not air-conditioned. They did have an open bar, so that made up for it. ;-) It was kind of lame-o for a while.. the started off with a DJ, then switched to a band, and finally back to a DJ around 10:30 when I was ready to leave to drive the 1.5 hrs back to Buffalo. Did get to do some dancing, which was fun. Receptions are much more fun when you know more people. Yes, I knew all my cousins, but it’s not the same as actin’ a fool with the gang on the dance floor. So, that was that. Flight home was uneventful, got in early & got home thanks to George. =)
When I turned on my computer upon my arrival home, it was making a very loud fan noise & never actually produced anything on the monitor. So now it’s at the computer doctor, had to get a new motherboard. Flippin’ A. How did that happen between it running fine on Wednesday when I shut it down before I left to not working AT ALL on Sunday. !? Dunno. SO there goes $225 bucks again. OY!
This has been the hottest week ever in NC. (I spose all over the country from what I’m hearing). I rode the bus Wednesday, and I have to ride Friday too. Ugh. Sweat was pouring down my back for the whole ride on Wednesday.. the flippin’ heat index was like 115*. When I went to the chiro on Tues, his big giant thermometer outside the office said 105*. The pool water is 90*, it feels like a warm bath. NASTY. Oh, and guess where we took the kids for a field trip today?! The ZOO! None of the animals were doing anything fun (except the kangaroos, who were havin’ some adult type fun), if they were even visible. Kind of a waste of money.. but oh well, not mine! I think by the end of tomorrow I will have sweated off a few pounds!!
Um, what else?? Got a babysitting weekend coming up next weekend, for my 3 girls. Their parents are going out of town to a golf tournament, so I’ll have them overnight Fri-Sat. Rock on mula. I also have a long weekend that weekend, so I might try to get up to Boone & visit Susan. Was going to try to go to the beach, but Mom & Dad are going back to NY for ANOTHER wedding, so I’m taking care of the house & the dogs. Melissa is gonna be in SC for a 5 day weekend, so she’s gonna come up and play in the pool on Saturday, so maybe I can get some other people over. Colleen comes back from NY sometime that weekend too, and starts back to work at Footprints so I’ll get to see her more. She’s been gone since the 20th, so I’m going thru Colleen withdrawl. She’s already asked if she can crash with me some nights so she doesn’t have to drive back and forth from GSO everyday.. so that should be fun!.
This weekend I’m just gonna chill. Hopefully it’ll cool down so I can enjoy the pool & catch some rays. My fabulous tan is fading!! We shall see though.
So, that’s the update on me. I promise to try to be better at keeping things updated. =)

Your trip to NY sounds like it was great! 5 hours between the wedding and reception, though... weird. It seems like the momentum would sort of have died in that much time! Sorry we weren't there at the reception to dance and spin with you and such. =)
